The Story of Bing...

Bing was not a "planned" bunny. We never discussed starting a rabbitat, it just sort of happened! Here's the story: We returned from a tropical vacation, and on opening one bag, I found a Florida gekko. He was apparently a stowaway from the trip. Well, it was the middle of winter and it surely would have died had it been let outside to fend for itself. I managed to secure a home for it with a friend who had a pretty cool swampy-sort of aquarium for just this type of companion. But she could not take it for another day. So I asked my (now)husband to go to the pet store to buy it some gekko food. When he returned from the pet store, I was drying off from my shower, but I could hear some conversation in the next room. In a voice reserved for small children and pets, I heard Big Dan (Firefighter, tough guy) say in his sweetest voice, "It's okaaaaaay...everything will be alriiiiight. It's okaaaaaay, Little Guy." Well, I knew he liked birds, and I peeked out to see a wire-top of a cage, so I assumed that he brought home a bird. So I asked him, and he said it wasn't a bird.

Well, I had a pet rabbit when I was in college, but I could not spend the time with her that she needed, so a week after taking her, I gave her to my "Rabbit Friend" who adopted her. She lived cage-free with another house rabbit in my friend's house (much better situation than with a college student) and that's a happy ending.Anyway, back to Bing. Although my fiance had rabbits when he was young, he did not have HOUSE rabbits, like my former rabbit was. But we quickly agreed that Bingaling will be her name and she will have to be litter-box trained because we will not be keeping any animal in a cage. Bing left us for the Rainbow Bridge in 2007. But her legacy lives on. Thanks to her incredible personality, we have adopted 4 other rabbit since. They are Piglet, Millie (Piglet's current mate), Scooter (a girl), and Duke. They live with us in our rabbit-safe home and comprise what we affectionately refer to as "The Dingalings"
